Pubblicato il Giovedì 24 Marzo 2016 - Tournaments and Experiences

While the U15M team is busy competing in Piedmont, Italy, to defend its double title in the 2016 Novipiù Cup, the U19M Stellazzurra Basketball Academy team will be competing in the 2016 Mondial Basketball, taking place in Cholet, France. The 35th edition of this tournament is scheduled for Friday 25 March until Easter Monday, and it includes 12 teams.

The Stellazzurra team will be led by head coach Germano D’Arcangeli and is formed by the same Italian league team that plays in U20 Eccellenza (without Scott Ulaneo who is busy with U18 Italian National Team). Last year Stellazzurra Basketball Academy (in the pic, Todor Radonjic in action in 2015 edition) ended the tournament in 3rd place, with the host team Cholet Basket ending below them in 4th, while VEF Riga finished 2nd, and the winner of the tournament was GBA Prague. The defending champions will be in the same group as Stellazzurra along with the French team Chorale Roanne Basket. Both games will be played on Friday, at 6pm against Prague and 08:55pm against Roanne, with four quarters each 8 minutes.

The first two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals (four quarters each 10 minutes), programmed for the next day. While the semi-finals will take place on Easter Sunday and the finals will be played on Easter Monday. The teams who ranked third in the first group stage will play a mini-tournament against each other during these same days.
