Amar Alibegovic’s adventure has ended in the first round of the Big East Tournament. Last night in New York his NCAA team, St. John’s, was beaten by Marquette taking it 101-93 in the match played at Madison Square Garden.

It was not enough for the Red Storm, tenth and last seeded of the board, to come back from 17 down to then overtake them by 1 point with 3’15” remaining to play, because the Golden Eagles' power forward, Henry Ellenson, brought the game back to the Marquette side (seventh seeded) closing the match with 27 points+14 rebounds, numbers that facilitated their qualification to the quarterfinals against the second seeded Xavier. The 22-year-old, from Stellazzurra Academy, finished his game with 8 points+4 rebounds in 19’, with 2/4 3-pt field goals and 2/2 free throws, ending his game due to the foul limit.

The young New York college team ends its NCAA 2015/16 season with 8 wins and 24 loses, while the 2.05 Italian-Bosnian forward completes his sophomore year with an average of 5.1 points+2.4 rebounds in 15.9’ per game, shooting 39.4% overall, 61.5% free throws and 30.2% three pointers with 26 triples scored in 32 games played, 6 of which as a starting line-up. The highlight of his season will remain his career-high of 18 points scored the 13 February at Wells Fargo Center of Philadelphia against the number 1 national ranking NCAA, Villanova.
