Pubblicato il Giovedì 7 Aprile 2016 - EYBL / EGBL

The U16 Stellazzurra Academy men's team are about to compete in a crucial stage of the EYBL season. The team will be led by head coach Lorenzo Gandolfi and the event is scheduled for Friday 8th to Sunday April 10th in Przemysl, Poland. This is the third and final stage of the qualifying round for the Division I of European Youth Basketball League. Stellazzurra are currently ranked fourth in the general table after winning 7 out of 10 games in the first two stages of the tournament, which were played in St. Petersburg and Sopot. In this final stage they will aim to qualify for the Superfinal that will be held in Tallinn on April 28th to May 1st, this can be achieved if they rank within the first six of the table at the end of the round. At the finals the host team and the winner of Division II will join them. As Stellazzurra (in the pic, at Stage II in Sopot) works together with other clubs in Italy for International tournaments, they will be strengthened with a few players from Basket Bassano and ScuBa Frosinone in the final stage. Yet again the team can count on their two sponsors, Orange1 Group and Mollificio Bordignon.

ROSSI These are statements made by our Sports Director Giacomo Rossi: “We are starting this final stage with the aim to qualify for the Superfinal in Tallinn. It will not be an easy task, as we will face the first three ranked teams and other two strong teams. To qualify for the Final Eight we will need to win 4 out of 5 games. It is our aim so we will try our best. This team has grown and improved in this part of the season: Stellazzurra has continued its undefeated season in the U16 league, the players from Bassano have just won the title in the same category in the competitive Italian region of Veneto, and finally the two boys from Frosinone played the last part of the U16 games exceptionally well to say the least”.

THE OPPONENTSAs mentioned previously, the most fearsome opponents are the first three ranked teams in the general table. The starting line-up for the first ranked Visi Kartu Vilnius is made up of the Lithuanian National team. The most talented team of all is Dsn Riga driven by the best shooter Zagars, who last year won the U15 Novipiù Cup with Stellazzurra. Moreover, the Polish side UKS 7 Trefl Sopot is the most physical. They will all be good and exciting matches”.

MOLLIFICIO BORDIGNON The company founded by Settimo Bordignon in 1958 was located in a town called Rosa’ and started off in the family home where they produced bicycle saddle springs. In 1974 it was transferred to its current location in Rossano Veneto with the first establishment being 1000sqm producing bed springs and similar items. As years went by the company grew and from a typical family business became a company specialized in springs for moulds of various standards as well as individually designed mechanical springs. The success we are obtaining from more than half a century, in National and International markets, has allowed us to gain a high degree of specialization with concrete and innovative answers, always developing new productive technologies, enough to become a reference point for different production sectors.
